An Opinion on Using and Doing Local Health Research in the Philippines

Abstract

The importance of research in medical education and clinical practice is conspicuous. According to The CHED Memorandum Order No. 40 series 2015 for medical curriculum, graduates of basic medical education should be able to assume any of the following roles: 1. General Medical Practitioner, 2. Health Professions Teacher/ Academician, 3. Researcher/Medical Scientist/Innovator, 4. Health Administrator  5. Health Information Manager, 6. Health Economist and 7. Health Policy Maker. These roles project the requisite of a 5-star physician.1
